Hesket custom barn
Project overview
Our client had a very particular brief for his dream custom barn, going to the expense of engaging a renowned architect to develop working drawings that could be turned into a steel package.
The building's ground level was designed for storage and a potting shed. The first level needed to be a clear-span loft intended for holding functions. All the external elements of the building needed to blend in with the landscape and existing architecture on the property.

Challenges and solutions
Working on a tight site, constructing the custom forty-six degree roof on such a high building presented a number of challenges that were overcome by staging the build and allowing sufficient access for all trades as they required it.
To allow for maximum storage space on the ground floor, large clear-span bearers were installed in the subfloor design. We worked closely with the architect and our client's builder to account for all details and provide a streamlined construction process.
