Gall farm bulk storage shed
Project overview
Graeme runs a mixed farming enterprise located between Moree, New South Wales, and Taroom, Queensland. As the farm operations expanded, he found himself in need of a new dual-purpose shed. However, amid COVID-19 lockdowns and supply chain disruptions, Graeme had concerns about potential delays and material availability. Determined to find a solution, he reached out to Central Steel Build with some initial design ideas.
Graeme required a shed, not only engineered for grain storage but also designed to accommodate large machinery. He specified that the structure should remain open at both ends for easy, and that it should have a clearance height of over 6 metres to ensure large equipment could enter without any issues.
Central Steel Build worked closely with Graeme throughout the process, taking the time to fully understand his unique needs. With a focus on both functionality and value, we designed and engineered a solution that was perfectly suited to Graeme’s expanding farming operations.

Project success and impact:
To meet Graeme's needs, we designed the building with a large sliding door at one end and an open access point at the other. This design provides convenient access from both ends while also being more cost-effective than installing doors at both ends.
Despite the challenges posed by interstate lockdowns and restrictions, the construction process went ahead without any issues or delays. This ensured that the shed was completed on time and aligned perfectly with Graeme’s operational requirements.
The smooth execution of this project is a testament to Central Steel Build's commitment to delivering high-quality, customised solutions that support the unique needs of farming operations.
“We run a mixed operation between Moree and Taroom in Queensland. Some time ago we decided that with the expansion of our business we needed an undercover area for much of our machinery to be stored. It was at that juncture that we approached Central Steel Build to see if they could do something in terms of a shed. That process took a few months because we had to conceptualise everything and understand the best design configuration and we came up with this shed that has dual purpose. We can store machinery in it or if the need arises we can store grain in it as well. Its quite high so we can get our machinery in and out. One of the things we tried to do was make sure the shed is dual purpose. We can store some gear on the other side of the shed that is stationary – we don’t want to use it day to day. We have the doors at the end of the shed which allows a couple of lanes of machinery that we can move in and out as required. I think Central Steel Build did a good job. When we approached them with some concepts we were able to work through the different alternatives and come up with a design that was going to work for us, so that was appreciated. The drafting process flowed well and then we were put through a number of processes and teams in the business as we progressed towards construction. We’ve had a number of sheds that we’ve put up in Queensland and we were certainly impressed by Central Steel Build and the quality of their construction materials. The columns are great – you can see that there’s some proper structure. We’re very happy with the way Central Steel Build handled the process right from conceptualising through to construction and everything went smoothly. The construction was in the middle of Covid-19 which was challenging but everything happened in reasonable timeframes given the restrictions at the time.”
