In 1975, Central Steel Build began as a small family business with a humble, customer focused vision: to purpose build high quality sheds which would stand the test of time. We’re now well into our second generation, and while our design and fabrication methods have become more sophisticated with cutting-edge modelling technology added to the mix, we’ve stayed true to our ideology of continuous improvement.

The opportunity
Our 12 person Drafting team use Tekla 3D to generate their Engineering, Fabrication, and Installation drawings. All Bill of Material generation is currently done manually by the team. This has created a need to employ a draftsman that can collaborate within a great team, share ideas, and assist others during this growth phase.
Reporting to the Building Design Team Leader, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Interpreting architectural drawings and scope of work document.
- Use Tekla to model buildings.
- Create Design & Construct Engineering Drawings.
- Create Shop Drawings.
- Create Installation Drawings.
- Create reports on model.
- Site measures.
About you:
You can adapt, learn quickly, be versatile, and are willing to take on challenging work as Central Steel Build continues to find new and creative ways to improve our business.
Your skills and expertise:
- You possess a Certificate or Diploma in drafting or an Engineering Degree and can demonstrate experience in:
- Accurately and timely production of 3D modelling.
- Creating a bill of materials.
- Interpretation of Engineering and Architectural Drawings.
- High attention to detail on all projects.
- Guiding and assisting Tekla drafters.
- Identifying cost saving strategies.
- Teamwork-adaptive to share resources and work in a collaborative fashion.
- Continuous improvement with the drive to get the most efficient outcomes.
