Proquip Rental & Sales combined office and warehouse
Project overview
Proquip Rental & Sales specialises in a comprehensive range of earthmoving equipment, ranging from 1 to 35 tonnes. To support their business expansion, they decided to construct a new integrated office and workshop facility in Ravenshall, VIC.
With a keen focus on optimising workflow and reducing bottlenecks, the design would prioritise efficiency to accommodate high-volume workshop activities. They envisioned a facility that included a separate wash bay to clean their equipment and machinery, a canopy off one side, and gantry crane rails. A Kingfloor slab needed to be incorporated into the two-story showroom and office alongside the integration of structural fins to complement the architectural façade.
The commercial builder on the project, MKM Constructions, collaborated with us early on in the project, leaning on our expertise in value engineering to ensure all the client’s requirements were met whilst maintaining the most cost-effective structural design.

Challenges and impact
To ensure the smooth manoeuvrability of large machinery within the workshop, we focused on maximising clearance both inside doorways and throughout the workspace. We strengthened the portal frames to support 5-tonne full-length crane runway beams, ensuring enhanced structural integrity.
In the office area, a Bondek floor was designed for the top level, with steelwork seamlessly integrated to accommodate architectural louvres. The project utilised an economical and value-engineered open web truss portal frame design, effectively reducing overall building costs while maintaining high quality.
