Westlab combined office and warehouse
Project overview
Westlab is a fast-growing company that required a large clear-span warehouse to accommodate long-span racking as well as large office space for future growth, including staff break-out and creative areas. They also required an undercover receiving and dispatch area on the building's east side. The structure had to be built to last in harsh environments.

Challenges and solutions
Working closely with MKM Constructions, we designed an economical solution for the office, ensuring suitable breakout areas and creative space, as well as a modern glazed office front with hidden rooflines. The large cantilever canopy was selected to be mounted off the reinforced east side of the main warehouse to accommodate inwards and outwards goods movement.
Our classic clear-span truss design was the obvious choice to provide unobstructed warehouse space. Our engineers provided a solution for 2.8m high horizontal clip-on precast panels that rely on the portal frame for support to guarantee hardwearing areas of the building are still workable in fifty years.
